  The School

Overall view of the School. The plain line (far left) has TPWS and AzLM axle counter fitments. Two separate signal sequences are provided in the wideway. The S&C layout on the right hand side of the signals features an F, C and B switch on timber and a D switch on concrete. The NR60 switch is located between the two colour light signal sequences.

The Semaphore Signal can be seen in the distance. The classrooms are located on the ground floor behind the track layout. The AzLM Equipment Room can be seen in the background, with associated trackside units on the far left hand side.

The F switch complete up to the first stress transfer blocks to enable the fitment to standard layout drawings, of a supplementary drive and supplementary detector.

The Centre has a half barrier for AHB Level Crossing arrangements. The Level Crossing apparatus includes a rig to provide a full operating sequence.

Signal WJ105 is provided to
undertake workplace assessment of hand-signallers and emergency communication arrangements. The equipment case behind the signal controls the train protection warning systems (TPWS) equipment fitted to the plain line area, and TI21 track circuit equipment.

The School has a range of points machines that can be used including 5P, M3, M63, HW 1000/2000 and SGE types. These can be interchanged, with the point machines on the point layouts. Examples of machines with outer casings removed provide further insight into machine workings. The machines have rigs fitted to simulate the switch and stock rails.

The School is home to a full AzLM ACE together with three sets of counters fitted on the plain line layout which also features a TPWS fitment and a TI21 track circuit.

Twelve separate racks / equipment cases provide a range of calling in points for main and tail cables enabling a range of fault and testing scenarios.
The school features a full SSI location case used to drive equipment in the school and dummy loads.

The lever frame will be part of a mechanical layout, controlling a set of points with Facing Point Lock and mechanical detectors together with the pair of Semaphore Signals.

The C switch fitted with MK II clamp lock points (although it can be fitted with point machines). This switch is fitted with a single supplementary drive, seen in this view mounted in the 6 foot, although an option is to run courses with the supplementary drive mounted in the 4 foot. An HVI track circuit is fitted on this layout.

The plain line area to the right is on concrete and comprises 8m of flat Bottom Rail and 8m of RT60 rail. This will have an AWS mounted as well as an impedance bond, associated with an fs2600 track circuit. The School is home to a full AzLM ACE together with three sets of counters fitted on the plain line layout which also features a TPWS fitment and a TI21 track circuit.
