Darren is a career railwayman of 19 years, having worked in numerous signalling new works and maintenance roles. Darren joined British Rail as a Graduate, working on the Eastern Region, before moving to the LTS and GE Divisions. In 1995 Darren joined Servirail as Engineering Director working on projects including DLR, Network Rail, NIR and Croydon Tramlink. Darren set up the company’s management systems during a period which saw the company develop from start up to an annual turnover of £20 million. In 2002 Darren left to establish GM Rail Services with Michael Croxford. Darren’s principal roles are as GM’s Head of Signalling and business development.

Michael is a career railwayman of 35 years, having worked in numerous departments of British Rail, including personnel, passenger, management services, finance, freight, and the S&T. Privatisation saw him transfer to Balfour Beatty, where he worked with IMPART, asset management & MIMS. He left Balfour’s in 2001 joining Servirail as the Company Systems Manager, developing the systems required to achieve a CAC. In March 2002, he joined Darren in setting up GM Rail and was instrumental in developing the Business Management System for the Company, developing the approvals and affiliations held by GM Rail including 9001, 14001 and various industry approvals.

Chris Cresswell joined GM Rail Services in 2002, firstly as a member of a Minor Renewals team working around the Sussex inner area, then as part of a point fitting team during the Stockport Renewals Project before moving on to maintenance in Thames Valley where, as a team leader, he undertook faulting and maintenance duties. Chris has worked his way up through the grades within GM Rail to become the Senior Technical Trainer at our Signal Engineering School and Technical Assessment Centre in Rugby where he leads a team of Technical Trainers delivering courses for equipment including points, train detection and signals. Chris is an IRSE licensed Point Fitter and Signal Maintenance Tester.

With over 20 years’ experience in the construction of electrical and telecom networks and associate civil engineering works, Dominic has worked on major projects throughout the UK and overseas, both in the Rail and offshore industries. Dominic joined GM Rail in 2007 as Regional Manager and his role includes managing day to day site activities, as well as expanding our portfolio of work.
